3D printing camp week wrapped up! We are so impressed by how much this group of kids picked up in just a few days! We have all exhibited a lot of interest in 3D printing, creativity and collaboration. Know that none of them had any previous #cad experience before, and these are some small samples of what they designed and printed. Very impressive! Also thank you to our patient and knowledgeable instructors provided individualized guidance and support to each child and always so encouraging and helpful ❤️ Our 6-week progressive 3D design and printing class is now open for enrollment. Can’t finish the Kitchen Chemist camp week without the beloved strawberry ? DNA ? extraction experiment! Kids had lots of fun, asked lots of good questions and first time saw and felt DNA strands! Plus it smells good! ? one child told all of us her dad studies human DNA and her dream is also to become a scientist ?‍?. Love hearing stories like that! Prepare whole milk, add food coloring, and then dipping in dish soap ?. The dish soap will quickly work to separate water and fat of the milk as fat is not water soluble. That’s a wrap! Truly one of the most fun week of the camp. The kids worked incredibly hard to understand concepts about aerodynamics: thirst, lift, wing shape, speed and much more. They made airplanes and used a wind tunnel to test the performance and completed in an air show. Definitely quite a few impressive flights (distance, acrobatics, accuracy and more) and check out the cool designs! Then we ended the week with 3D in house printed airplane toys for all. ? They all learned something new, made new friends and had a lot of laughters. Our staff worked very hard this week as well. This morning the kids at the Aviation camp did the ? balloon rocket experiment. We explained the concept first, showed some visuals and kids headed to the competition. ? what a fun and tangible way to learn about basic physics concepts! Friday Capstone project - The kids built a Ruth Goldberg machine! Using tracks, marble run, leverage gravity, using pulley for energy transfer, and kicked off dominos even leading them to upstairs! It’s a wonderful way for kids to visually understand important physics concepts. As Elon Musk said: “Physics is a good framework for thinking. … Boil things down to their fundamental truths and reason up from there.” DM if your kids are curious, love hands-on, and you want them expose to physics.
