OUR STORY

STEAMLabs Kids started the way a lot of good ideas do — at the kitchen table, with our own child.

When our son showed an early love for science and engineering, we wanted to feed that curiosity with programs that would challenge him, inspire him, and cover more than just one slice of STEAM. We looked around our community and came up short. The programs we found were either too narrow, too passive, or didn’t push kids to reach their full potential. We knew our son — and kids like him — were capable of so much more.

So we started building our own curriculum. What began as a project for our family quickly grew into something bigger: a hands-on, lab-based STEAM program designed to give kids in grades K–6 the kind of rich, well-rounded learning experience we couldn’t find anywhere else.

WHO WE ARE

Keith is a U.S. Navy veteran and former tech professional with a career spanning engineering, product management, training and quality assurance. He brings a builder’s mindset to everything STEAMLabs Kids does — from how the curriculum is structured to how the program runs day to day.

Di  is a Senior Manager at a leading design and make software company, where she works with some of the country’s top-tier university's engineering and design programs. She sees firsthand what it takes to prepare the next generation of makers, designers, and creative problem-solvers — and that perspective shapes everything we build.

Our son Keith began homeschooling in 2025 and is learning how to build a business for the ground up.  Our youngest Victor isn't quite ready for labs yet but he loves hands-on activities.

We moved to the El Dorado Hills area five years ago from the San Francisco Bay Area, looking for a community where our family could grow and where our kids could thrive. STEAMLabs Kids is our way of giving back to the community that welcomed us — and giving every child here access to the kind of STEAM education they deserve.

At STEAMLabs Kids, we empower every child in our community to BUILD, DISCOVER and GROW through hands-on STEAM adventures - creating with their hands, collaborating as teammates, and gaining lasting confidence that comes from solving problems on their own.
